Live events and touring are a key source of revenue for artists, performers, athletes, personalities, and groups of all kinds. Yet the margins on tours are thin and the logistics wickedly complex. Technology and devices like smartphones have seeped into the business, but mass-market software products often don’t serve busy tour teams well.
SaaS company Eventric, the masterminds behind Master Tour, is a crew of former (and sometimes current) road warriors, seasoned tour managers and live event pros who know what touring demands. For over 15+ years, their products have supported the work of more than 125,000 live-event professionals, sweeping away a tangle of spreadsheets, group texts, and other unwieldy and fragmented tracking and messaging systems.
Based on multiple years of feedback from users, the latest version of Master Tour, MT3.0, is more streamlined and powerful in just the right areas. “We’ve worked really hard to pare down the number of clicks or taps needed to get from place to place,” says Matt “Sators” Satorius, lead developer for Eventric, sound engineer, and former tour manager. “The goal is to make Master Tour ridiculously simple to use, while keeping all the functionality to deal with anything and everything a tour will throw at managers.”
Master Tour 3.0 improves on the already wildly popular tour management product. It offers several vital new features:
-More visibility options: Talent doesn’t need to know when the crew has load in, nor do the lighting folks need to worry about the talent’s publicity schedule. Master Tour now allows admins to determine who sees what, reducing repeat entries and keeping everyone more focused on where they need to be when.
-Autosyncing: No more wasting time, pushing updates one by one. MT3 takes care of updating users automatically, while still functional in a completely “offline” environment.
-Guestlist features: MT3 admins can set a total number of available guest list spots for users, eliminating the confusion around this contentious area. They can see instantly whether they have overallocated beyond what they get from the venue, with automatic email notifications alerting guest of the ticket status.
-Customizable, printable reports: Make your daysheets, tourbook, call sheet, setlist, and financials look just the way you want them, with fully customizable templates to keep everyone on the same (custom) page.
-At-a-glance accounting: MT3 shows managers 10-15 key fields related to accounting, giving a helpful snapshot of financials without getting too lost in the details. All the data is still there, but a new interface lets you see the big picture and compare your P&L across any date range, or tour.
-Multilingual: MT3 will soon be available in several additional languages including Spanish, French, and German.
“As a tour manager, you learn to plan methodically for every foreseeable challenge and to respond rapidly to the unexpected,” says Paul Bradley, Eventric CEO and former tour manager. “We respond to our users’ needs because they are out there, managing expectations and making sure everything goes smoothly for artists and crew. They don’t have time to mess around with their tech.”
"Eventric set the industry standard with Master Tour. And now with Master Tour 3.0 the platform continues to evolve to meet the growing needs of the touring professional at every level,” enthuses Jimmy Chamberlin, drummer, The Smashing Pumpkins. “This is technology that saves time and money and can instantly professionalize any organization. Whether you are in a van or a private jet - you need this!”

When you’re a road warrior, it’s inevitable that at some point, you’ll need last-minute backline rental, a 24-hour laundromat, or a walk-in clinic, fast. And then sometimes you just have an artist with wants that seem like needs—a cowboy hat, doughnuts, or the best breakfast in town. The team behind Master Tour, the one-of-a-kind mobile and desktop platform for managing every detail of a tour, understand this. That’s why they’ve just added a crowd-sourced resource feature as one of three new updates to its Master Tour Mobile app.
Since 2000, groups from Beyoncé to Maroon 5, Manheim Steamroller and even The Moscow Ballet have all relied on the robust desktop software to keep band and crew members on time and on stage. Band and Crew members currently log in to the mobile app, Master Tour Mobile, to view information on venues, travel, and lodging that has been entered by a tour manager or production manager.
The impact of the new features will be huge, changing Master Tour Mobile from a passive viewing experience for crew and band members to one where they can actively engage with colleagues throughout the industry. Eventric is expanding to better serve this expanding base of users as well. The Chicago-based company just opened an office in Los Angeles and will soon have another in Nashville at the new Fort Knox Studios.
The first step is creating a profile, where you can enter a photo, your expertise, credentials, frequent flier numbers and a lot more. “You can enter everything from your preferred airport to allergies,” says CEO and founder Paul Bradley. “Then you’ll see some easy-to-follow prompts that let you know about where to find everything in the cities on your tour, from backline rental to bass strings. You’ll see recommendations entered by some other artist’s tour crew. When you live on the road, you have very specific things you need to do. You don’t have a lot of time and Google and Yelp results can be too broad.” Shaun Hoffman, Tour Manager for Bruno Mars says, "Master tour has already made it so that everyone knows what is going on during show day. Now they have taken out the issue of having to search out the best of every city on non-show days."
Determined to make Master Tour a one-stop place for every member of the band and crew, Eventric is working to gather all this information, contributed by the 100,000+ dedicated Master Tour users, into an intuitive interface that lets touring musicians and professionals find hotels that treat bands well, where the coffee is nice and strong, and vendors that offer special deals for musicians and crews.
Master Tour users can “Tag” spots to mark their unique finds, vet other users’ contributions, and see what’s nearby in real time when they arrive in each city. “We’ve been wanting to add this service for years,” Bradley notes. “Once we hit 100,000 users, we knew we had a great base to offer this functionality. We’ve been focusing on what we wanted this to look like, what the user experience would be, for over a year.” Eventric worked hard to develop something streamlined and seamless. The goal: “Make it as simple as possible. We want users to be able to go everywhere in a couple clicks.”
Eventric has also partnered with the Event Safety Alliance and Keep the Beat Alive to create a local emergency services feature, and general event and health safety protocols. Click on the red cross in the Master Tour Mobile app and you’ll immediately get contact information for the nearest embassy, hospital, clinic, and emergency services, along with links to the latest safety guidance, training, and standards - handy, and potentially, a real life saver.
These new features, all tied to the profile management system, mark the beginning of a significant expansion of the platform. Master Tour plans to become an indispensable tool for all kinds of touring professionals to actively manage and enjoy their live career. Next steps include an insider job board and advanced admin features for venues, including a standardized template for their “tech pack,” critical information that artists and their production teams need to understand staging, lighting, and sound.
Eventric will be unveiling this new feature in Master Tour Mobile at the annual Tour Link Conference in Palm Springs, CA later this January, where you can hear Bradley speak on a “Touring and Technology” panel and tour the software with Eventric reps at their booth.

Products:
Master Tour - Master Tour is the premier software solution for tour management and logistics. Our software is battle-tested by professionals who make their living on the road. With Master Tour you can organize your itinerary, travel, production, accounting and more in one application. Work on or offline and share critical information with your crew in real-time. Master Tour will help keep your entire organization in sync.
Live Access - Live Access is Eventric’s online “Friends and Family” ticketing service used to manage retail sales, comps and private ticket holds. Guest list requests come from personal friends and family, industry executives, celebrities and loyal fan club members. We understand that these important guests require a personal touch which can’t be replaced by a generic ticketing system. Live Access was designed with this scenario in mind. You retain complete control over all communication to your guests. You decide when requests are approved, what fees (if any) should be collected and when the customer is billed.
Master Tour, the software built by tour managers for tour managers, has teamed up with the best in mobile medicine, WellVia, to offer high-quality distance medicine on the road. This new feature is now available to all Master Tour users, after a successful test period in beta with Maroon 5 and Daughtry. At the first signs of that scratchy throat or when that prescription runs out in the middle of a two-week tour, road warriors can speak with a board-certified medical doctor who can help address health concerns easily and efficiently.
It’s part of a bigger picture. Master Tour has long strived to help touring professionals keep all their travel, financial, and technical details in a single place. Adding WellVia to the mix was the next logical step, as Eventric continues to expand the features of its keystone product to include marketplaces with goods and services vital to the touring performer, organization, or athlete.
“Since we have been on tour ourselves, we know that the basics that everyone else takes for granted are not always easy to manage while on the road,” says Eventric co-founder Paul Bradly. “Now that we have 80,000 users, we are adding additional ways to help tour managers and their traveling teams. Phone medical help is an obvious first expansion feature for Master Tour.”WellVia’s Telehealth platform creates a remote doctor consultation with a U.S. based board-certified physician, that can address many of the circumstances that would historically require you to make a conventional, in-person appointment at an urgent care facility or require the expensive services of a “Rock Doc” to visit your venue while on the road.
Fred Kharrazi, Tour Manager of Maroon 5, thinks this service is just what the touring industry needs. “For our 2015 North America run, we utilized Wellvia through Eventric and our team loved the service and quality of care. This saves time and money but most importantly allows my crew to be proactive about their health when touring.”
“The average wait time to see your primary care physician is up to 27 days,” remarked WellVia Co-Founder and President Todd Thoman, “yet 70% of those appointments and 40% of emergency room visits can be handled telephonically with WellVia. Our service is affordable, efficient and bi-lingual!”
WellVia and Eventric have partnered to provide this service to touring professionals at a drastically discounted monthly fee, starting at just $5/person a month. This HIPAA-certified program provides the member with 24/7, 365 telephonic consultations with a U.S.-based physician and a written prescription to a local pharmacy, if the attending physician feels it medically appropriate. Master Tour users can continue to use the service even when they’re off the road, and it covers up to 6 of their dependents.

Apps and data don’t tour, humans do. That simple principle animates Master Tour, the comprehensive platform that allows artist managers, tour managers, production managers, and anyone on tour to coordinate everything from schedules and guest lists, to treatment of that pesky sore throat on the road. Like a reliable, hard-shell guitar case, Master Tour has been road-tested on thousands of tours by the likes of The Dave Matthews Band, The Black Keys, Wilco, Jay Z, the USO, and Weird Al Yankovic. It’s won the approval of major festivals like New York’s Summerstage and The Civic Theatre in New Orleans. It’s proven to withstand tours of any size, thanks to its organic origins and word-of-mouth growth over seven years.
More than a bundle of features, Eventric’s Master Tour connects all the dots, from advancing to accounting at tour’s end, uniting all the dispersed info related to a tour in a single hub. It functions both online for real time updates and offline from a moving vehicle or airplane, via laptop or mobile. It allows the dozens of people involved in touring--from guitar techs to travel agents to publicists--to get automatic updates when something key to their job changes, and gives each user access only to the parts of the tour data they need to see, a feature unique to Master Tour.
Eventric CEO Paul Bradley comes by his tour management software obsession honestly. After starting his own promotion company in college to bring major jam bands to Des Moines, Bradley went back to his hometown of Chicago and worked at Tantrum Records, managing and then booking tours. When a member of the Irish-inflected powerhouse band The Drovers couldn’t hit the road, Bradley leaped in, learning the band’s eclectic drum parts on the fly--even as he faced packed 800-seat theaters where fans sat in rapt, silent anticipation.
As a tour manager and road warrior, however, Bradley knew on the fly was not the way to roll. Like many tour managers, he cobbled together his own quirky system using spreadsheets, database programs, and other bits and pieces. He knew there was a better way to tie it all together. With decades of hands-on touring and tour management experience under his belt, Bradley and fellow tour veteran Ian Kuhn decided to build what later became Master Tour. “It began as a simple tour book template that Ian had created for the Smashing Pumpkins, then with The Dave Matthews Band,” recalls Bradley. It became a widely shared Filemaker database. When that was pushed to its limits, Master Tour launched as custom-built software on an Adobe platform, with a very low monthly fee and free mobile version for team members.
As the product evolved, Bradley and team created something that did far more than help with routing. It incorporated tools to deal with every eventuality on the road, every moment from travel plans to tracking crew information. With a dozen modules--from guest list management to hotel and venue databases--Master Tour has taken on the broad functionality of a program like Word or Photoshop, with lots of potential uses and features to suit a variety of tour scenarios.
“Bands use it for different things,” Bradley says. “Metallica likes to use our Guest List module, for example, but others use it for everything that applies. We are constantly reviewing feature requests and add items that will help the bulk of our clients.”
“The scheduling component alone can be incredibly helpful for getting everybody on the same page about what is happening each day on the road, whether you look at it on the day sheet on Master Tour or get the updates in mobile,” reducing the endless redundant communication chains, as well as the repetitive data entry for groups that tour regularly. For example, once you’ve got a record for a venue in a market--or other large swaths of data--it’s there for good, no matter how your touring crew might change on subsequent runs. For each successive tour, users can pick up right where they left off, reviewing past venue information, crew travel preferences, and even what VIPs didn’t show up for their guest list tickets.
Master Tour shows more than serious road testing; it reveals a keen awareness of what it’s like to be on tour. “Sometimes, you’re on a bus or in a basement green room, and you can’t get cell service or Wifi; you can work offline,” explains Bradley.
“We recently announced a partnership with telemedicine provider WellVia, now from the road you can connect with a board-certified doctor quickly and inexpensively to diagnose common issues instead of calling in a ‘rock doc,’ he continues. “We have a deep database with vendors, accommodations, and service providers, as well as some exciting, upcoming announcements coming shortly that will continue to take the hassle out of touring.”
Master Tour keeps the humans first and foremost in the live event planning equation, with robust technological tools.
“Master Tour is an invaluable tool for our tour to stay organized with people in multiple offices and locations. Our schedule is always changing and Master Tour allows us to keep everyone updated without 8 million questions everyday.”
-Curt Jenkins- Production Manager - Lady Antebellum
"Master Tour is a wonderful tool for organizing our tour and communicating with all 120 member of our staff. It is highly recommended.”
-Alan Floyd - Tour Manager, Beyonce
"Incomparable. Nothing else in the industry holds a candle. I've converted 30 year tour veterans to using their phone instead of hard copies for day sheets and tour books! So user friendly that anyone can figure it out!”
-Misty Roberts - Production Coordinator- Metallica, Bruno Mars
“I’m not even sure how I kept things organized before I was introduced to Master Tour. I have three different artist in play and having all of them in the Master Tour system helps me keep up with routing, guest lists and advancing without having to shuffle tons of files and paper. I also love that we can move our tours towards being green and not fussing with multiple binders. Building day sheets is easier than ever, and having our staff lists available in the phone app is great for things that happen on the fly.”
-Adriane Biondo - Production Coordinator - The Black Keys
